Despite how much May wanted to cry after losing her nephew all over again, she knew she wasn’t alone in her pain. MJ was next to her in the back seat, her hands shaking as she took her phone out of her pocket to check the news. Tony was in the driver’s seat, his knuckles white as he latched onto the wheel for support. When Pepper leaned back and put a hand on May’s knee, May smiled.
“I’m okay. He’s… he’s going to be alright. If Bruce was let out, that means Peter will be, too.” Maybe if May repeated that enough times in her head, she would start to believe it.
